PSE index gains, volume reaches 1 billion shares

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index ended higher for the third straight session on Tuesday.
The peso finished at P50.68 against the US dollar from P50.72 on Monday.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $455.9 million from $357.07 million in the previous session.
The PSE index gained 79.20 points to 5,650.01 points.
In the broader market, there were 125 gainers, 72 losers and 63 unchanged.
Volume reached one billion shares worth P6.36 billion.
It was the first time volume reached one billion shares since March 19 when the PSE index slumped 711.95 points to end at 4,632.42.
Turnover on Monday was 757 million shares worth P4.86 billion.Most active shares were led by SM Prime, up 95 centavos to P 31.10; BDO down P1.00 to P101.50; Ayala Corp., up P13.40 to P493.40 and Jollibee, up P4.50 to P110.50. DMS
