Apple to Open Store in Kyoto on Sat.

August 24, 2018

Kyoto- Apple Inc. on Thursday showed the media a store that it plans to open in Kyoto, western Japan, on Saturday.

The three-story outlet will be the U.S. technology giant's ninth directly managed store in Japan.

The new store is designed to fit harmoniously into the historical city, with plaster used on its walls and pillars, while part of the wall on the second floor resemble a Japanese shoji screen.

As well as selling products, the new shop will offer classes on how to use apps and programming. Starting next month, workshops are planned to be held with creators who have links with Kyoto.

On the third floor, a space for business meetings with local businesses has been prepared.

Denny Tuza, senior marketing director at Apple, said the company is "in the middle of a major retail investment in Japan."

Apple will be "opening several new stores" as well as remodeling its existing outlets in the nation over the coming years, Tuza said. Jiji Press
