BSP sees inflation between 2.7%-3.5% in April
April 30, 2019
The Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas ( BSP) sees April inflation ranging between 2.7-3.5 percent, which is the government target for 2019.
“Higher domestic oil prices and the slight upward adjustment in electricity rates are seen to provide upside price pressures for the month,'' said the BSP Department of Economic Research in a statement on Tuesday.
''However, these pressures may be partly offset by the continued decline in rice prices and by the peso appreciation,'' it added.
Inflation in March was recorded at 3.3 percent, marking its fifth straight month of decline. The April data will be announced early May.
''The BSP will continue to closely monitor evolving price trends and will undertake necessary measures towards its commitment to price stability,” the statement said. DMS
