Daihatsu Launches New Model in Mira Minivehicle Series
June 26, 2018
Tokyo- Daihatsu Motor Co. launched a new model in its mainstay Mira minivehicle series in the Japanese market Monday with the aim of attracting young women buyers.
The Mira Tocot comes with enhanced safety functions that help ease the concerns of first-time buyers, according to the Japanese automaker.
The new model has cameras and sensors that make it easier to park and drive on narrow roads. It has a larger number of air bags.
The Tocot can drive 27.0-29.8 kilometers on one liter of gasoline.
The unit of Toyota Motor Corp. aims to sell 3,000 units of the new model each month. It is priced from 1,074,600 yen.
Minivehicles with engine displacement of 660 cc are in demand in Japan at a time when overall sales of new vehicles are sluggish in the country.
Daihatsu hopes that the Tocot will help cement its position as the largest minivehicle seller in the country.
"Minivehicles are closely related to people's lives. The Tocot is a result of the company's pursuit of a useful automobile," Daihatsu President Soichiro Okudaira said. Jiji Press
