Double Dragon building Philippines’ biggest hotel in Boracay

Double Dragon Properties Corp. said it is building the biggest hotel in the Philippines in terms of room count on the beachfront of Boracay Newcoast, the company said in a disclosure to the Philippine Stock Exchange on Thursday.

Hotel101 Resort-Boracay will have 1,001 rooms and will occupy two hectares on the beachfront cove, said Double Dragon, which added it is environment friendly.

Hotel101 Resort-Boracay is a joint venture project of Hotel of Asia Inc, a subsidiary of DoubleDragon Properties Corp., a property company led by Mang Inasal founder and DoubleDragon chairman Edgar Injap Sia II and Jollibee founder and DoubleDragon co-chairman Tony Tan Caktiong, and Newcoast South Beach, Inc. led by its chairman Enrique Gonzalez.

Boracay Newcoast is a 150-hectare tourism estate of Megaworld's subsidiary, Global-Estate Resorts, Inc.

Boracay Newcoast will have a commercial, retail and boutique hotel districts, residential condominiums, residential villages, hotels and resorts, surrounded by its own golf course.

It incorporates green initiatives such as the use of electric jeepneys, solar powered streetlamps, flood-free drainage systems, implementation of its own waste segregation program and having its own Material Recovery Facility (MRF) for waste recycling, and having its own Sewage Treatment Plant (STP) that converts used water for irrigation and fire reserve.

Sia says this will " certainly boost DoubleDragon's recurring revenues through years and will also significantly help generate economic benefits to the people of Boracay as well as contribute to pump-prime further the world-class reputation of the island and the Philippines as a tourist destination.” DMS
