Freelancers account for 5 percent of workers in Japan

Tokyo--About 3.06 million to 3.41 million people are working freelance in Japan, accounting for roughly 5 pct of total workers in the counthttps://manila-shimbun.ph/wp-admin/post-new.phpry, the Cabinet Office said in an estimate released Wednesday.
Of them, about 1.58 million to 2.28 million people, or about 3 pct of total workers, are full-time freelancers, the Cabinet Office said.
About 1.06 million to 1.63 million people, or some 2 pct, are working as freelancers on the side, it said.
Full-time freelancers are around 54 years old on average, the Cabinet Office said.
About 20 pct of freelancers, the largest proportion, are working in the construction industry, it said. Jiji Press
