Hitachi Eyes Fourfold Boost in Data Scientists by FY 2021
June 22, 2018
Tokyo- Japan's Hitachi Ltd. said Thursday that it will boost the number of data analysis experts across its group over fourfold to 3,000 by fiscal 2021.
The company sees fostering data scientists as essential to capitalize on artificial intelligence and the Internet of Things, or IoT.
Hitachi has about 700 data scientists, including research and development personnel and system engineers.
The applications of AI and IoT have expanded to various business sectors including railways and energy.
Hitachi will certify workers at production sites and elsewhere as data scientists once they take internal training and meet skills requirements.
The worldwide shortage of engineers adept at data analysis has intensified competition among companies to secure such human resources.
"We aim to increase experts not only through recruitment but also nurturing," an official said. Jiji Press
