June inflation at 2.5%, snapping four-month decline
July 7, 2020
The inflation rate in June rose 2.5 percent after four months of decline, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Tuesday.
Inflation in May was at 2.1 percent while year-ago figure was at 2.7 percent.
''The main source of the upward trend in June 2020 inflation was the annual increase in transport index,'' the PSA said.
Higher rates in alcoholic and tobacco index also pushed inflation higher along with annual increase in the index of housing, water, electricity, gas and other fuel,. the PSA added. DMS
