Lawson Completes Preliminary Banking License Examination

Tokyo- Major convenience store chain operator Lawson Inc. said Tuesday a preliminary regulatory examination by Japan's Financial Services Agency for a banking licence has been completed.
Lawson Bank Preparatory Co., a Lawson subsidiary, will apply for a final examination by the FSA, aiming to launch operations within 2018.
The preparatory company is expected to change its name to Lawson Bank.
Lawson said it plans to offer new services to customers using some 13,000 automated teller machines installed at Lawson stores across the country. Jiji Press
