Mini-rally lifts share index

The Philippine Stock Exchange index staged a mini-rally on Tuesday.
The index closed at 7,577.27, up 44.29 points. In the broader market, there were 98 gainers and 96 decliners with 48 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 793.3 million shares worth P7.23 billion from Monday's 1.098 billion shares valued at P5.9 billion. Foreigners were net sellers at P4.26 billion compared to buying at P4.035 billion.
Most traded shares included SM Prime, up 4.79 percent to P33.90; Globe Telecom, up 4.11 percent to P1645 and Metrobank, down 0.24 percent to P82.50.
The peso closed at P51.85 against the US dollar from P51.87 on Monday. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $727 million from $585 the previous day. DMS
