Mizuho Resumes ATM, Online Banking Services
July 17, 2018
Tokyo- Japan's Mizuho Bank resumed its automated teller machine and online banking services Tuesday morning after a three-day suspension.
The suspension was designed to smooth the way for data transfer work by the unit of Mizuho Financial Group Inc. to unify its core computing systems for banking operations.
The bank used the country's three-day weekend for the work. Monday was a national holiday.
Mizuho resumed the services at 8 a.m. Tuesday (11 p.m. Monday GMT).
The data transfer work was the second in a yearlong series of nine following the first in June. The latest work involved a transfer of transaction data for customers, mainly big companies.
The next work is slated for between midnight on Sept. 7 and 8 a.m. on Sept. 10, when ATM and online banking services will be suspended. Jiji Press
