July 24, 2018
New York- The U.S. Securities and Exchange Commission said Monday that Mizuho Securities USA LLC has agreed to pay a penalty of 1.25 million dollars for its failure to safeguard information on share buybacks by clients.
The U.S. financial regulator and the U.S. unit of Mizuho Securities Co. thus reached a settlement on the alleged misconduct.
An SEC statement said several traders at the U.S. unit regularly leaked undisclosed information about the buybacks to other Mizuho traders and hedge fund clients.
The company agreed to pay the penalty without admitting or denying the SEC's findings, the statement said. Jiji Press
