Nissan to Build New Auto Plant in China

Tokyo- Nissan Motor Co. plans to construct a new automobile plant in China, informed sources have said.

With the new plant, the major Japanese automaker aims to boost its production capacity and increase vehicle sales in China, which has become the world's largest automobile market, the sources said.

A joint venture between Nissan and its Chinese partner, Dongfeng Motor Corp., will build the plant, which is set to have an annual production capacity of some 300,000 units, according to the sources.

Nissan has set a target of increasing its annual vehicle sales in China from 1.52 million units in 2017 to 2.6 million units by 2022 by investing 60 billion yuan in the country.

The new plant is part of Nissan's efforts for achieving the target. It plans to decide a site for the plant by the end of this year.

Nissan also plans to build a new production line at a plant of Dongfeng in the eastern China province of Jiangsu, the sources said. Jiji Press
