Nissan to Cut New Vehicle CO2 Emissions by 40 Pct by FY 2022

Tokyo- Japan's Nissan Motor Co. said Thursday that it aims to reduce carbon dioxide emissions per new vehicle by 40 pct from the fiscal 2000 level by fiscal 2022.
The automaker already has a plan to boost annual sales of electric vehicles to one million units by fiscal 2022. If the sales go as planned, the emission reduction target will be realized, according to Nissan.
In the longer run, Nissan hopes to cut CO2 emissions from new vehicles by 90 pct from fiscal 2000 level by fiscal 2050.
