October 25, 2018
Tokyo- Nisshin Foods Inc. said Wednesday that it will raise the prices of flour for household use by around one to 3 pct, starting with shipments on Jan. 4, 2019.
The move follows the government's hike in prices of imported wheat sold to domestic millers this month as well as soaring logistics and labor costs.
The unit of Nisshin Seifun Group Inc. had already announced a plan to raise commercial-use flour prices from December this year.
For household use, the price of soft flour will increase to 270 yen per kilogram from 264 yen excluding tax and that of hard flour to 327 yen from 325 yen.
Prices of flour mix for "okonomiyaki" pancakes will be raised by some 2 to 4 pct for household use and by around one to 5 pct for commercial use next January. Jiji Press
