Nomura, Others to Work Together on Financial Gerontology
October 18, 2018
Tokyo- Nomura Holdings Inc., Mitsubishi UFJ Trust and Banking Corp. and Keio University said Thursday that they will work together to raise public awareness about financial gerontology.
The three Japanese entities said they will jointly establish an organization called Japan Financial Gerontology Institute in April next year.
The move is aimed at disseminating knowledge about asset management for elderly people and training financial industry personnel in the field.
The project comes as the industry is moving to develop asset management expertise that reflects customers' cognitive function deterioration amid the aging of society.
The new institute plans to provide training programs and proficiency tests and certificates to financial institutions.
Nomura and the university started joint research on financial gerontology in 2016. Mitsubishi UFJ Trust, a unit of Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. , began joint research with the university on the matter in March this year.
The three aim to seek participation into the institute from other financial institutions. Jiji Press
