Online Glitches Hit Japanese Banks
June 28, 2018
Tokyo- Glitches temporarily hit a dozen Japanese banks Wednesday, preventing customers from completing money transfers online.
The problems started around 9 a.m. (midnight Tuesday GMT) and were resolved by around 2 p.m.
The glitches stemmed from problems with a user authentication system operated by U.S. Internet security firm Symantec that the banks use for online transactions, according to the banks.
Affected banks included Resona Bank, Saitama Resona Bank and Kinki Osaka Bank, all units of Resona Holdings Inc., as well as Seven Bank, Shinsei Bank, three banking units of Yamaguchi Financial Group Inc.; and Joyo Bank. Jiji Press
