Peso closes at four-year high P48.13:$1

The Philippine peso hit a four-year high of P48.11 against the US dollar on Wednesday before finishing at P48.13 at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines.
This was the strongest the peso reached since reaching P48.3482 in October 2016.
Volume reached $565.27 million from Tuesday's $747.75 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSEi) index closed 107.16 points lower to finish at 7,000.51.
In the broader market, there were 120 losers, 97 gainers and 40 unchanged.
Volume reached 8.03 billion shares worth P14.07 billion from Tuesday's 8.27 billion shares valued at P12.95 billion.
Most active shares were led by BDO, down P1 to P107.90; MerryMart, down 45 centavos to P5.80 and DMCI Holdings, up 15 centavos to P5.57. DMS
