Peso closes at near 12-year low of P52.70:$1

The peso closed at a near 12-year low of P52.70 against the US dollar on Friday after hitting an intraday low of P52.705. On Thursday, the Philippine currency settled at P52.55 against the US dollar.
Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines declined to $719 million from Thursday's $899.95 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended 5.02 points lower to 7,647.51. In the broader market, there were 95 gainers, 82 decliners and 56 issues unchanged. DMS
