Peso closes at P48.04 against US dollar

The Philippine peso hit a four-year intraday high of P48.02 against the US dollar before closing at P48.04 on Friday.
The peso closed at P48.045 against the greenback on Thursday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.02 billion from $693.8 million on the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ( PSEi) closed 59.67 points lower to 7, 134.56. In the broader market, there were 121 gainers, 103 losers and 49 unchanged.
Volume reached 12.61 billion shares worth P8.47 billion from Thursday's 3.65 billion shares valued at P10.74 billion.
Most active shares were led by BDO, up 90 centavos to P108.40; SM Prime, down P1.40 to P37.60 and Ayala Land, up 35 centavos to P39.95. DMS
