Peso closes at P54.25$1, stocks decline

The Philippine peso hit a low of P54.29 against the US dollar during trading but ended at P54.25 on Tuesday, down by 14 centavos from the previous day.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $655.4 million from Monday's $385.7 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index finished at 7,132.36, down 89.72 points. In the broader market, there were 112 decliners, 72 gainers and 56 shares unchanged.
Volume amounted to 921.39 million shares worth P5.7 billion from Monday's 705.5 million valued at P4.23 billion.
Most traded shares were led by Ayala Land, down 3.2 percent to P39.30; SM Prime, down 5.05 percent to P33.85 and SM Investment Corp., down 0.57 percent to P875. DMS
