Peso declines nine centavos to close at P54.11:$1

The peso lost nine centavos to close at P54.11 on Monday despite the central bank's decision last Thursday to rate policy rates by 50 basis points.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines (BAP) went down to $385.7 million from $699.67 million on Friday.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index ended 54.74 points lower to P7,222.08. In the broader market, there were 101 decliners, 75 gainers and 53 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 705.5 million shares worth P4.23 billion from Friday's 1.02 billion valued at P6 billion.
Most active shares were led by Universal Robina Corp., down 3.46 percent to P139.50; SM Investment Corp., down 2.65 percent to P880 and SM Prime, down 1.38 percent to P35.65. DMS
