Peso ends nearly five centavos higher at P54.185:$1

The Philippine peso closed nearly five centavos higher on Monday to finish at P54.185 against the US dollar.
Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $845.04 million from Friday's $592.5 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index lost 27.38 points to 7,050.82. In the broader market, there were 115 decliners, 71 gainers and 56 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 769.2 million shares worth P 4 billion from Friday's 1.13 billion shares valued at P4.08 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land. unchanged at P39; SM Investments Corp., 0.46 percent down to 866 and Globe Telecom, up 2.64 percent to P2,330. DMS
