Peso ends six centavos away from P51:$1

The peso closed at a new near 11-year low of P50.94 against the US dollar on Wednesday, down 17 centavos from the previous day. The Philippine currency hit a low of P50.95 in morning trading before steadying to end the session at P50.776. In the afternoon, the peso averaged at P50.879. Volume declined from Tuesday's $653 million to $523 million at the Philippine Dealing System. The Philippine Stock Exchange index closed at 7,972.90 points, up 19.98. DMS
