Peso hits intraday four-year high of P48.08 vs US dollar before ending at P48.115

The Philippine peso hit an intraday four-year high of P48.08 against the US dollar before closing at P48.115 on Thursday.
On Wednesday, the peso ended at P48.13. Volume at the foreign exchange portal at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $575.71 million from Wednesday's $565.27 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index (PSE) ended 73.76 points lower to 6, 927.75 points.
In the broader market, there were 198 losers, 69 gainers and 46 unchanged.
Volume reached 3.28 billion shares worth P15.49 billion from Wednesday's 8.03 billion shares valued at P14.07 billion.
Most active shares were led by BPI, down 50 centavos to P88; BDO, down P1.40 to P106.50 and SM Prime, down 80 centavos to P36.50. DMS
