Philippine stock index ends below 7,000 points

Philippine stocks were affected by a decline in regional markets on Thursday as the main stock index fell below the 7,000-point mark.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index lost 162.58 points to end at 6,966.84. In the broader market, there were 146 decliners, 38 gainers and 54 shares unchanged.
Volume reached 870.5 million shares worth P5.5 billion from Wednesday's 711.9 million shares valued at P1.06 billion.
Most traded shares were led by Ayala Land, down 2.81 percent to P38; ICTSI, down 3.01 percent to P90.20; SM Prime, down 2.88 percent to P33.70 and PXP Energy Corp., up 7.32 percent to P17.60.
The peso closed at P53.8 against the US dollar from P53.725 on Wednesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $667.1 million from $707.05 million on the previous day. DMS
