Philippines fourth quarter growth 6.6%, full year to 6.7%

The Philippine economy grew 6.6 percent in the fourth quarter, bringing the 2017 full-year average to 6.7 percent, the Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) said Tuesday.
Socioeconomic Planning Secretary Ernesto Pernia said this is a "strong finish that sustains our position as one of the fastest-growing economies in Asia after China's 6.9 and Vietnam's 6.8 percent growths.
The Philippine Stock Exchange index was trading down 10.57 points to 8,940.05 after setting a record high on Monday. The peso was at P50.939 against the US dollar from P50.835 Monday. DMS
