PSE index below 6,000 pts; peso at P48.62:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index finished below the 6,000 mark on Monday.
The PSE index ended at 5,943.58, down 61.82 points. In the broader market, there were 112 losers, 72 gainers and 59 unchanged.
Volume reached 2.28 billion shares worth P10.27 billion from Thursday's 1.5 billion shares valued at P4.04 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., down P17 to P883; BDO, P2 to P870; Ayala Land, down 75 centavos to P30.60.
The peso closed at P48.62 against the US dollar from Thursday's P48.68. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $481.8 million from Thursday's $788.66 million. DMS
