PSE index breaches 6,000-point mark

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index breached the 6,000-point mark on Tuesday.
The peso, which hit a high of P50.28 against the US dollar, ended at P50.34 from Monday's P50.32. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $877.1 million from Monday's $699.75 million.
The PSE index closed at 6,025.17, up 95 points. In the broader market, there were 117 gainers, 61 losers and 43 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.007 billion shares worth P7.29 billion from Monday's 820.04 million shares valued at P6.98 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., up P26 to P946; SM Prime, up 25 centavos to P32; Security Bank, up P7.60 to P96.60 and Globe Telecom, down P52 to P2,192. DMS
