PSE index closes slightly lower

Buying in the last half-hour of trading reduced losses of the Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index on Wednesday.
The peso settled at P50.80 against the US dollar from P50.79 on Tuesday. Volume at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $212.77 million from the previous day's $381.9 million.
The PSE index closed at 5,573.75 points, down 18 points. In the broader market, there were 101 losers, 67 gainers and 54 unchanged.
Volume reached 600 million shares valued at P5.07 billion from Tuesday's 764 million shares worth P5.66 billion.
Most active shares were led by Jollibee, down P2.10 to P134; PLDT, down P50 to P1,180 and BDO, down 10 centavos to P100.50. DMS
