PSE index declines; peso at P49.365:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index ended lower on Thursday, closin don 35.25 points to 6,029.01.

In the broader market, there were 150 losers, 50 gainers and 36 unchanged.

Volume reached 1.6 billion shares worth P4.26 billion from Wednesday's 3 billion shares valued at P4.5 billion.

Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., down P15 to P900; SM Prime, down 40 centavos to P30.50; Universal Robina Corp., down P2.60 to P119.70 and Ayala Land, up 80 centavos to P33.80.

The peso closed at P49.365 against the US dollar from P49.375 on Wednesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $481.2 million from Wednesday's $567.13 million. DMS
