PSE index declines, peso at P49.48:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed 156.30 points lower to 6,016.51 on Wednesday.
In the broader market, there were 166 losers, 48 gainers and 32 unchanged.
Volume reached 2.66 billion shares worth P7.29 billion from Tuesday's 5.8 billion shares valued at P5.13 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Prime, up 10 centavos to P31.70; BDO, down P3.36 to P89.50 and SM Investment Corp., down P24 to P911.
The peso closed at P49.48 against the US dollar from P49.545 on Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $563.8 million from $793.7 million on the previous day. DMS
