PSE index declines, peso at P51.58:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange index declined for the third straight on Thursday, but the pace was not as rapid as in the previous days.
The PSE Index finished at 8,738.32 points, down 25.29. In the broader market, however, there were 113 gainers, 88 decliners and 44 unchanged issues.
Volume amounted to 2.74 billion worth P7.33 billion from Wednesday's 2.99 billion shares valued at P11.53 billion, Foreigners were net sellers as it sold P4.197 billion while buying P2.83 billion.
Most active shares were led by MacroAsia, up 10.33 percent to P23.50; SM Prime, down 1.08 percent to P36.80 and Ayala Land, up 2.49 percent to P45.35.
The peso closed at P51.58 against the US dollar from Wednesday's P51.295. Volume at the Philippine Dealing System amounted to $878.15 million from the previous day's $943.05 million. DMS
