PSE index declines, peso closes at P50.26:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed lower on Wednesday.
The peso gained to P50.26 against the US dollar from P50.30 on Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal at the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $390.5 million from $391.85 million on the previous day.
The PSE index settled at 5,626.265 points, down 25.42 points. In the broader market, there were 111 losers, 64 gainers and 48 unchanged.
Volume reached 422.90 million shares worth P4.79 billion from Tuesday's 454 million shares valued at P 5.36 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 70 centavos to P32.50; Puregold, unchanged at P48, Meralco, up P6 to P270 and Ayala Corp., down P13 to P691. DMS
