PSE index declines, peso slightly up vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index closed lower while the peso finished slightly higher against the US dollar on Friday.
The peso closed at P52.44 from Thursday's P52.545. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.396 billion from the previous session's $1.661 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index ended at 7,795.98, down 32.88 points. In the broader market, there were 127 gainers, 73 losers and 47 unchanged.
Volume reached 692.53 million shares worth P8.7 billion from Thursday's 789 million shares valued at P11.81 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., up P7.00 to P1027; SM Prime, down 40 centavos to P34.10; Ayala Land, up 40 centavos to P49.25 and Ayala Corp., up P1.00 to P935. DMS
