PSE index declines, peso up vs US dollar

The main Philippine stock index fell but the peso gained against the US dollar on Thursday.
The peso settled at P51.815 from Wednesday's P51.94. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.186 billion from $969 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed at 7,545.55 points, down 65.13 points. In the broader market, there were 141 losers 41 gainers and 58 unchanged.
Volume reached 570.16 million shares worth P8.3 billion from Wednesday's 453.98 million to P6.14 billion.
Most active shares were led by First Gen, up 50 centavos to P108; SM Investment Corp., down P1o to P973 and Ayala Land, down P2.00 to P45. DMS
