PSE index ends higher

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed higher on Wednesday.
The Philippine peso settled at P50.51 against the US dollar from P50.67 on Tuesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $498.5 million from the previous session's $368.53 million.
The PSE index gained 68.99 points to end at 5,643.97. In the broader market, there were 110 gainers, 78 losers and 49 unchanged.
Volume reached 584.34 million shares worth P4.54 billion from Tuesday's 728 million shares valued at P461 billion.
Most active shares were led by PLDT, up P64 to P1,270; Ayala Land, up 75 centavos to P31 and Puregold, down 60 centavos to P46.40. DMS
