PSE index ends higher

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed higher on Wednesday.
The peso closed at P50.65 against the US dollar from P50.70. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $919.20 milion from $567.80 million.
The PSE index finished at 5,581.96, up 26.11 points. In the broader market, there were 88 losers, 84 gainers and 40 unchanged.
Volume reached 316.55 million shares worth P3.3 billion from Tuesday's 600.65 million shares valued at P4.04 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 10 centavos to P32; BPI, up P1.95 to P63.95, Globe Telecom, up P64 to P2,276 and Universal Robina Corp., down P2.60 to P121.40. DMS
