PSE index ends higher; peso at P49.075: $1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index gained 58.08 points to end at 5,833.58 on Wednesday.
In the broader market, there were 128 gainers, 76 losers and 27 unchanged.
Volume reached 2.04 billion shares valued at P5.38 billion from Tuesday's 1.6 billion shares worth P5.74 billion.
Actively traded shares were led by Ayala Land, up 30 centavos to P32.50; SM Investment Corp., up P5 to P 870; BDO, up P3.85 to P91 and PLDT, up P16 to P1,353.
The peso closed at P49.075 against the US dollar from P49.095. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $699.71 million from Tuesday's $470.35 million. DMS
