PSE index ends lower

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index closed lower on Monday.
The peso finished at P50.595 against the US dollar from P50.40 on April 30. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $906.8 million from the previous session's $349.35 million.
The PSE index ended at 5,572.09 points, down 128.62 points. In the broader market, there were 150 losers, 46 gainers and 34 unchanged.
Volume reached 522.4 million shares worth P5.1 billion from Thursday's 590.40 million shares valued at P6.58 last April 30.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, down 15 centavos to P36.80; SM Prime, down 60 centavos to P30.40 and Metrobank, down P2 to P37.05. DMS
