PSE index ends lower

The main Philippine stock index closed lower on Tuesday.
The peso closed at P50.735 against the US dollar from P50.77 on Monday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines ( BAP) reached $742.36 million from $653.4 million on the previous day.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index settled at 7,736.18 points, down 43.62 points. In the broader market, there were 139 losers, 55 gainers and 44 unchanged.
Volume reached 525.65 million shares worth P3.87 billion from Monday's 576.20 million shares valued at P5.55 billion.
Most active shares were led by PLDT, down P35 to P1,000; SM Prime, down 10 centavos to P40.90; Ayala Land, up 55 centavos to P45.25 and Metro Pacific, up 13 centavos to P3.67. DMS
