PSE index ends lower, peso at P48.68:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE)index closed 36.72 points lower to 6,005.40 on Thursday.
In the broader market, there were 131 losers, 64 gainers and 46 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.5 billion shares valued at P4.04 billion from Wednesday's 1.36 billion shares worth P5.46 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., unchanged at P900; BDO, down P2.75 to P89.05, Universal Robina Corp., down P1.80 to P137.20 and MerryMart, up 10 centavos to P3.25.
The peso closed at P48.68 against the US dollar from Wednesday's P48.575. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $788.66 million from the previous day's $794.5 million. DMS
