PSE index ends lower, peso at P50.53:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index ended lower on Tuesday after a one-day trading holiday on Monday.
The peso closed at P50.53 against the US dollar from P50.7 on May 22. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $491.5 million from $675.1 million on May 22.
The PSE index settled at 5,496.83, down 42.36. In the broader market, there were 156 losers, 37 gainers and 35 unchanged.
Volume reached 1.36 billion shares worth P5.17 billion from Friday's 501.94 million shares valued at P4.03 billion.
Most active shares were led by Jollibee, down P14 to P119; Ayala Land, down P1.00 to P29 and BDO, down P3.70 to P85.90. DMS
