PSE index ends lower, peso up vs US dollar

The main Philippine share index closed lower but the peso gained against the US dollar on Friday.
The peso finished at P51.295 from Thursday's P51.42. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $1.036 billion from $1.291 billion.
The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index ended 54.32 points lower to 7,885.32. In the broader market, there were 89 gainers, 83 losers and 46 unchanged.
Volume reached 830.78 million shares valued at P5.47 billion from Thursday's 587.99 million shares worth P5.71 billion.
Most active shares were led by Metrobank, up P2.10 to P70.90; DMCI, up 32 centavos to P9.10 and Ayala Corp., down P9.50 to P855.50. DMS
