PSE index ends slightly lower, peso at P49.39:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index ended slightly lower in Tuesday even as the broader market was relatively flat.
The PSE index closed at 6,136.31, down 14.39. In the broader market, there were 95 gainers, 91 losers and 52 unchanged.
Volume reached 2.52 billion shares worth P4.37 billion from Monday's 2.27 billion shares valued at P3.11 billion.
Most active shares were led by BPI, down 30 centavos to P70.70; SM Prime, down 70 centavos to P31; BDO, down P1.80 to P91.20 and SM Investment Corp., down P15 to P925.
The peso closed at P49.39 against the US dollar from P49.375 on Monday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $676.25 million from $492.33 million on the previous day. DMS
