PSE index gains, peso at P48.94:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed 41.06 points higher to 5.995 on Wednesday.
But in the broader market, there were 102 losers 85 gainers and 47 unchanged.
Volume reached 5.9 billion shares worth P17.08 billion from Tuesday's 5.31 billion shares valued at P5.07 billion.
Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., up P12 to P870; SM Prime down 25 centavos to P30; PLDT, down P10 to P1,380 and BPI, up P1.50 to P62.50.
The peso closed at P48.94 against the US dollar to P48.92. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $795.92 million from $743.4 million on Tuesday. DMS
