PSE index gains, peso at P49.15:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange ( PSE) index gained 37.82 points higher to 5,928.45 on Thursday.

In the broader market, there were 114 gainers, 78 losers and 47 unchanged.

Volume reached 1.34 billion shares worth P 5.08 billion from Wednesday's 1.18 billion shares valued at P3.57 billion.

Most active shares were led by SM Investment Corp., down P10 to P890; Emperador, unchanged at P9.10; Globe, up P44 to P2,064 and PLDT, up P24 to P1,340.

The peso closed at P49.15 against the US dollar from P49.19 on Wednesday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $809.55 million from $551.71 million on the previous day. DMS
