PSE index gains, peso at P49.95:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed higher on Tuesday.
The peso finished at P49.95 against the US dollar from P49 on Monday. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $887.46 million from the previous day's $651.3 million.
The PSE index settled at 6,583.84 points, up 69.84. In the broader market, there were 135 gainers, 73 losers and 43 unchanged.
Volume reached 950.80 million shares worth P8.5 billion from Monday's 1.18 billion shares valued at P9.63 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, unchanged at P38; Alliance Global, down 20 centavos to P7.30 and SM Prime, up 10 centavos to P33.50. DMS
