PSE index gains, peso lower vs US dollar

The main Philippine stock index gained for the second day on Wednesday, the first trading day of April.
But the peso declined by 20 centavos against the US dollar to end at P50.88. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $346 million from Tuesday's $363.1 million.
The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index closed at 5,408.52 points, up 87.29 points. In the broader market, there were 99 gainers, 87 losers and 41 unchanged.
Volume reached 498.18 million shares worth P5.58 billion from Tuesday's 546.31 million shares valued at P4.71 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up 95 centavos to P31.15; Ayala Corp., down P4.40 to P463; BDO, up P1.70 to P105.20 and PLDT, up P30 to P1,159. DMS
