PSE index jumps 2.6%, peso at P48.67:$1

The Philippine Stock Exchange (PSE) index jumped 2.6 percent but remained short of regaining the 6,000-point mark on Monday.
The index closed at 5,935.85, up 150.76 points. In the broader market, there were 132 gainers, 65 losers and 37 unchanged.
Volume reached 2.94 billion shares worth P3.9 billion from Friday's 554.57 million shares valued at P5.45 billion.
Most active shares were led by Ayala Land, up P1.80 to P30; Ayala Corp., up P12 to P702; ICTSI, up P1.90 to P105.90 and SM Prime, up 90 centavos to P28.85.
The peso closed at P48.67 against the US dollar from Friday's P48.62. Volume at the foreign exchange portal of the Bankers Association of the Philippines reached $765.8 million from Friday's $689.6 million. DMS
